Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Garg is a distinguished civil engineer and senior railway infrastructure expert, currently serving as Executive Director (Gati Shakti – Urban & Rapid Rail Transit) at the Railway Board. With a career spanning over 30 years, he holds a PhD in Civil Engineering with specialization in finite element methods, along with a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Garg has contributed extensively to the development and modernization of India's rail infrastructure, including key responsibilities in bridge design, metro systems, urban transit planning, and policy development. His deep understanding of structural dynamics, fatigue design, and large-scale transport systems has made him a thought leader in infrastructure engineering.
As part of the Gati Shakti initiative, he plays a vital role in aligning national transportation strategies with multi-modal integration, urban rail connectivity, and high-speed transit systems. His leadership ensures coordinated planning and execution between metro, RRTS, and conventional rail projects, enabling faster implementation and cost efficiency.
