Before joining the Railway Board, Mr. Singh served as Additional General Manager, South East Central Railway, and was elevated to Principal Executive Director (Traction) in March 2023. In his current capacity, he provides strategic direction on locomotive maintenance, electrification initiatives, and operational best practices across India’s expansive network.
He played a key role in chairing significant meetings such as the 41st Electric Locomotive Maintenance Study Group (MSG) in March 2024 in Patiala, where he emphasized the importance of collaborative innovation and maintenance excellence to enhance locomotive performance.
Mr. Singh’s proactive field engagement includes visiting the Patiala Locomotive Works in September 2023, where he personally inspected manufacturing, workshop operations, and recommended improvements to streamline production and quality standards.
At the Railway Board, he is instrumental in formulating policies for electric traction systems, coordinating with zonal railways, loco factories, and RDSO, and ensuring alignment on modernization, efficiency, and sustainability goals.
Under his leadership, the traction division continues to drive forward India’s electrification agenda, focusing on reliability, energy efficiency, maintenance optimization, and integration of advanced technologies into electric locomotive systems.
