Mr. Shalabh Goel is a distinguished electrical engineer and public sector leader, currently serving as the Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). He assumed this prestigious role on 2 July 2024 and brings over 35 years of rich experience in railway systems, electrification, operations, and administrative leadership.

A 1989 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Mr. Goel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee and went on to complete postgraduate studies in Energy from IIT Delhi.

Throughout his career, he has held several high-impact roles, such as:

  • Chief Electrical Locomotive Engineer at Central Railway
  • Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mumbai Division, Central Railway
  • Executive Director in the Ministry of Railways
  • Senior Deputy General Manager cum Chief Vigilance Officer at Western Railway
  • Senior managerial and administrative roles at Northern Railway and DMRC

During his tenure as DRM in Mumbai, he successfully managed train operations during the pandemic, ensuring service continuity, safety, and timely crisis response. His leadership has also earned him accolades including the Minister of Railways Award and the General Manager’s Award, in recognition of his contributions to operational excellence, electrification, and energy efficiency.

Joining NCRTC at a critical juncture, Mr. Goel is overseeing the final stages of India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)—the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut “Namo Bharat” corridor. With nearly 55 km currently operational, his focus is now on completing the final 17‑km stretch between Modipuram and Shatabdi Nagar. He recently conducted a comprehensive site inspection of viaducts, stations, and finishing works, underscoring his commitment to quality, safety, and commuter experience as the line approaches full commissioning.

Under his stewardship, NCRTC is working toward operationalizing the full 82-km corridor on schedule. He also fosters strong coordination across engineering teams, contractors, and partner agencies to ensure seamless commissioning while upholding the highest standards of performance and reliability.
