Dr. Namrita Kalsi is a highly accomplished architect and urban planner, currently serving as Chief Architect at Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTC) and Gurgaon Metro Rail Ltd. She has a rich career spanning metro rail systems, urban planning, transit-oriented development, and real estate regulation.
Dr. Kalsi holds a PhD in Regional Master Planning, with her thesis focused on the Greater Mohali region. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Chandigarh College of Architecture and later completed her doctorate at Thapar University. Throughout her career, she has held senior architectural and planning roles, including as Additional General Manager (Architecture) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Chief Architect at New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
Her expertise covers metro station and depot design, development of detailed project reports (DPRs), tender documentation, specification drafting, and supervision of architectural fit-outs and construction. She has successfully implemented Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategies, GIS-based master planning, and built-real estate oversight, including building sanctioning and construction regulation protocols.
During her tenure at NDMC and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority, Dr. Kalsi contributed to the formulation of Unified Building Bylaws and the Master Plan of Delhi 2012. She has also led PPP-based infrastructure projects, structure planning, and architectural compliance for varied building typologies such as hospitals, showrooms, and institutional facilities.
At HMRTC, she oversees architecture and design for Gurugram Metro expansion, coordinating with contractors, consultants, and government bodies to ensure seamless integration of aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. She also leads architectural control strategies in real estate development and advises on urban design best practices and green infrastructure initiatives.
Dr. Kalsi is proficient in advanced design and planning technologies including BIM (Revit, BIM 360), AutoCAD, Photoshop, and cloud-based collaboration tools. Her multifaceted skills and visionary leadership continue to shape the architectural identity of metro and urban transport infrastructure in the National Capital Region.
