5th RailTrans Expo 2025 spotlights India’s logistics transformation on National Logistics Day Eve


New Delhi, 27th June 2025: As India prepares to celebrate National Logistics Day on June 28, the 5th RailTrans Expo 2025, organised by Urban Infra Group in association with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), continued its impactful discussions at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with a dedicated focus on India’s logistics and supply chain transformation.

The highlight of the day was a high-powered plenary session on “Unifying Corridors & Smart Logistics for Sustainable Infrastructure”, aligned with the event’s central theme, ‘Logistics 360 for Viksit Bharat’. The session brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to chart the roadmap for a unified, technology-driven, and globally competitive logistics ecosystem, pivotal to achieving India’s Vision 2047.

Logistics: The Engine of Viksit Bharat

Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, emphasised the urgent need to develop a future-ready workforce. “Logistics is no longer just about moving goods—it’s the very engine powering Viksit Bharat. With integrated digital systems, cutting-edge infrastructure, and skilled professionals, India’s logistics sector is driving inclusive growth and global competitiveness,” he stated.

$338 Billion Logistics Sector Key to Economic Growth

Mr. Kanishka Sethia, Chairman, National Logistics & Supply Chain Committee, ICC, and CEO, Western Carriers India Limited, said: “The path to a $5 trillion economy by 2027 runs through efficient, integrated, and sustainable logistics. The government’s $1.2 trillion Gati Shakti initiative is national-scale systems engineering, but true transformation requires addressing fragmentation, bridging talent gaps, and embracing green logistics. At Western, we’re investing in EV fleets, solar-powered warehouses, and carbon-neutral supply chains because sustainability is no longer optional—it’s a business imperative.”

Railways Repositioned as Backbone of Logistics

Mr. Surendra Ahirwar, IRTS, Executive Director (Traffic Commercial), Railway Board, remarked: “Logistics is now central to India’s socio-economic transformation. With PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy, we are integrating modes, nodes, and networks to ensure seamless, multimodal connectivity. Railways are being repositioned as the backbone of sustainable transport.”

Dr. Jaideep Gupta, Additional Member (Railway Electrification), Railway Board, added: “This platform is not just a dialogue—it’s a declaration of intent. To become a global logistics powerhouse, alignment between government, industry, and academia is essential. With smart investments, inclusive growth, and sustainability, we are building the backbone of a developed India.”

Mr. Vikash Lohia, Deputy Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons Ltd., and Chairman, Railways Expert Committee, ICC, reflected on his experience at the expo, stating: “What an incredible experience speaking at RailTrans Expo 2025, organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce!
